Burnaby Neighbourhood
Saturday morning the Expo Line train slides in over Central Boulevard, and you're through the doors of Metropolis with a Tim Hortons coffee before the crowd arrives.
Metrotown is about 34,000 people, median age in the late thirties, and about half own while about half rent. Much of the core is high-rise condo living. Almost everything that comes up for sale is an apartment, two-bedrooms most of all, then one-bedrooms. Houses and townhouses are a thin slice.
Metrotown Station sits right across Central Boulevard, and it's a major connection point for bus routes in southern Burnaby and Vancouver. The Expo Line runs through, linking Burnaby with downtown Vancouver and New Westminster. The 19 Kingsway loads at Central Blvd at Willingdon Ave, and the 144 runs from the station.
Metropolis at Metrotown keeps the shops, the food and the entertainment under one roof, steps from the platform. Starbucks, Tim Hortons and Chatime are inside when you want a coffee. Trattoria By Italian Kitchen, Sushi Garden and Earls Kitchen + Bar are close by.
For elementary, Nelson Elementary is at 4850 Irmin St and Maywood Community Elementary at 4567 Imperial St. South Slope Elementary shares 4446 Watling St with the BC Provincial School for the Deaf Elementary. All public.
Burnaby South Secondary and the BC Provincial School for the Deaf Secondary are both at 5455 Rumble St, and the Burnaby Youth Hub Secondary Program is at 5291 Watling St. Check the school board catchment map for your exact address.
